Event Information

On Saturday, July 14, 2007 come Bowl A Strike for Sickle Cell Disease and help raise awareness with many of today's hottest and brightest celebrities.

This year's event is even more special because it will be a Salute to Childrens Hospital, L.A. . Paizley Jenkins has been the poster child for KiKi’s CBC since its’ inception in 2003. In Dec.2005, 13 year-old Paizley successfully underwent the painful bone marrow transplant surgery at Childrens Hospital
Los Angeles
, and was declared cured of SCD on December 15, 2006. For their amazing and ground-breaking contribution to Paizley’s recovery, this year’s CBC salutes Paizley’s caregivers from CHLA -
Dr. Thomas D. Coates/Head of Hematology, and Dr. Neena Kapoor, her gifted surgeon.

The CBC-’07 also benefits the Dorothy H. Shepard Scholarship Fund. This scholarship was created in honor of my mother, an educator for 50 years, who passed away July 30, 2005. Each year, the fund hopes to present a scholarship to a student in pursuit of higher education. KiKi’s mother’s strongest belief has always been “with education, you can accomplish anything”. In her name, we wish to give brave young students a “hand-up” in reaching their educational goals.
